Making Rosemary Oil at Home – Haircare DIY
Growing herbs means constantly finding new ways of using them in daily life. From health to home to personal care, herbs lend themselves to so many uses that the more you explore, the lesser it seems. Needless to say, my little herb garden gets a lot of love & use! One star performer recently added to the collection is ROSEMARY. I have made many attempts in the past to grow it from seed, but mostly unsuccessful. Apart from it’s culinary uses, Rosemary is also a popular Hair-care herb. So the first thing that I’m doing with it is making some Rosemary Oil, obviously!
These are the plants growing in a pot. I always grow herbs in cement or terracotta pots. They perform better and there is no plastic toxicity.

Snapped a few cuttings from fresh growth and let them dry for a few days.
Meanwhile grab a glass bottle and wash it thoroughly. Dry it in the sun too.
Fill it up with the dried rosemary. Mine is semi-dry because i plan to infuse it in the sun. I also want to see the outcome. You can choose to dry the Rosemary sprigs completely.
Mostly it is infused in a carrier oil such as Olive but I am choosing Apricot Oil, since i like the light consistency.
The key point is- more the amount of Rosemary, stronger the infusion. I am only making a massage oil so the bottle is filled loosely.
This will bask in the sun for at-least a month before being ready to use.
I shall be updating the progress here.
A quick way to do is over the heat- on the gas, but I am choosing this method.
