In the garden..
I feel a little unsorted w.r.t. the garden.. As you already know, ever since i got married, the garden has already shifted twice..in 3 years. The moment i feel settled at one place and all ready to prep up even more, we move.. and now we may be ready for a third one. This time though, for good.
So While i sit and dream of a permanent paradise, it also means i am in the process of wrapping up where we are. The move isn’t very soon but having some permanent plans in mind for the garden, i am taking it easy here and only doing enough to keep me sane.
To start with, i am getting rid of all the small pots i had accumulated over winters for annuals. Since the annuals have now seeded and said goodbye, i emptied all the pots, collected all the soil at one place and kept the pots to dry and air out. I had a lot of these pots leftover from a landscape project and prior to planting in them, i had given them all a good coat of varnish. Turns out, it was an extremely intelligent decision(for me!!) to make because now, getting them all clean and ready for the next season is a breeze. all I have left in these little ones is dianthus (which i hope lives through the season) and surprisingly impatiens!! Maybe having them next to a wall shaded by other big pots is helping. Some are even blooming!!!
At the same time, i am extremely disappointed by losing all of the zinnia growing season to my injured foot.. 2 months on and it is still taking its own time to heal which means i couldn’t sow any summer annuals in time and now i am soooo missing the sunflowers, zinnias, gaillardias, gomphrena and the likes.. It also means that i couldn’t even drive to the local nursery to get some seedlings which has lead me to drooling over people’s pics of summer gardens on fb all day.. (which is not good for my mental health at all *sigh*)
So now that i have completely updated you with my situation(sob story), let’s get to the current plan of action..
1. Day dream(and night) for the garden that will be, in a few months
2. Steal(Get inspired) ideas shamelessly from pinterest(isn’t that what it’s for though..?)
3. Drag my husband to the nursery and get some.. or a lot.. portulacas and stuff them in all hanging baskets
4. Spare a few hanging baskets for cherry tomatoes
5. Oh! i am also growing mint in a hanging basket and quite pleased with myself for the same!
5a. Get an early start on geraniums this season( maybe august) so that they start blooming early.. because if you don’t know yet(highly unlikely though) I LOVE GERANIUMS!! I do have some plants from this winter that are doing ok.. Hoping some of them to live through the season..*fingers crossed*
6. Get some(more) indoor plants
7. Get back to browsing pinterest
That’s it folks.. I am off to take some pics for this post.. so that all the text doesn’t bore you to death!
Happy Gardening
