SORTING OUT SEEDS

Here’s what i’m growing for the winter season 2010-11.. yes its crazy.. and no i haven’t had the courage to count
the no of packets.. but i have made a list of what i have and what i need( yeah i STILL need some more seeds.. and
i have alist to prove it.. infact i have a seed order ready to be mailed to suttons) see for urself and if u dare
to, count and tell me too :d
Infact to prevent going over-the-top in buying seeds, i followed a procedure today.. first i sorted the seeds into
winter and summer.. plus a separate stack for herbs n veggies.. then i sorted all the winter stuff to see what all
i have and what i lack.. then i visited the local seed shops to buy stuff from my list starting at the cheapest
brands which sell for Rs. 10 a pack. PBC seeds haven’t come in the market yet so i picked up Raunaq which is
equally good. Then i moved to Planstman’s seeds which i got at Rs. 20 a packet. In most cases i picked up mixed
colors beacause a single color in flowers always bores me and  like to see a rainbow kind of effect.. and i
controlled my self from “oh-this-is-so-cute-and-i-need-more-of-it” syndrome. it takes a lot of willpower but yes i
did it!!! having spent Rs. 190 on 18 packets of seeds(not bad.. pat on the back!!) which cover most of my to-buy
list, i carefully browsed throught the list suttons sent me for Indian and International varieties. And this came
out of it..
And this is what i have to sow this season excluding the yet-to-buy seeds (help! help! help!) all interested
gardenbuddies are most welcome for a back-breaking seed-sowing session..
And this is the summer collection yet to be sorted out..
Now its time to get my seed sowing equipment in order as i plan to sow sep end or first week of oct..
Garden tip of the day: I have noticed that when seed suppliers talk of mixed packets that have just the name
mentioned with no variety(specially a mix), what comes out of them is hardly diff from each other whether its a
packet for Rs. 10 or Rs. 50.. so i try to be very smart there.. its only when you are buying specific varieties or a
specific color , that it makes sense to pay the extra amount..
P.S. Winter bulbs pending!
