Who said planting bulbs is easy? When u talk of a bulb, it is said.. remove soil-place bulb-replace soil.. sounds

easy right? no! in my case as i experienced today its more like “hunt a non planted pot-wet soil-remove weeds-break clumps-add bonemeal-mix soil-remove a clump-decide which side of bulb is up-place bulb-steady it-replace soil-water-phew!!”

But it was fun no doubt.. and fun or not if i didnt do it, the bulbs wud have probbably flowered right inside their

packets.. not that it happens but most bulbs i planted had long shoots burting out.. this task was long pending and

i started with hyacinths, tulips, ranunculus, narcissus, ixia, freesia and gladiolus.. i’m very excited about the

tulip bulbs i found by chance when i was hunting for ranunculus at a local seed shop.. i have never seen a tulip

live.. i do not know what size it is but ever since i rem i have always loved tulips.. have spent years admiring

pics and hunting for bulbs.. i did get some last year from a frnd but they never came up.. this time i can see

shoots so i’m very hopeful.. i have them in purple pink black(lets see what comes up) and a packet labbled as P/W..

as long as they are tulips i don’t care what it means.. my best frnd who loves tulips is super excited too wants

the first picture:) they are not common in our region neither do florists have them so growing them in my garden

will truly be something to boast about..

One thing that i kept in mind while creating mixed containers was not to put bulbs of same flowers with diff color

together or it would create a big prob in storing and diving clumps later.. i like to organize bulbs by color so i

can create mixes accordingly..

I’ve also started transplanting though majority of seedlings are still too small.. what came out of seed trays is

cosmos double, sweet pea streamer and mix, nemesia, daisy, lavatera, dahlia, venedium, impatiens, dianthus and

lunaria. some seedlings have way too established root systems but still a single pair of leaves.. so i’ve

transplanted only three or four to see if they survive.. i hope they do!

The nemesia was too crowded to grow so i jus took little clumps in each of the 14 pink containers on the wall.. i

hope that will create a good bunch of colors and create a beautiful view from the road.. it will also give the

seedlings both in the containers and tray to grow rapidly..

Linaria is being through the same but i still don’t know where to put it in bulk..

The herb basket is doing gr8 too and today i finally harvested some lettuce leaves for salad 🙂 i’m still wondering

though what to do with so much basil.. ideas??

P.S. Pics tom:)  Happy Gardening

Healthy eating has really been good for my family. It’s very satisfying to grow and then prepare your own food.
