HEATWAVE..

The heatwave( 40 deg celsius) was almost about to take its toll on

the garden.. i think i arrived at just “The Moment”.. One more day

and it was gone!! it was hot enough outside to bake me so sitting

inside waiting for the sun to go away i could do nothing but feelbad

bad and bad for my poor plants!! The beautiful verbenas had all

withered and i had to stash out one casuality with a heavy heart!!

The only happy ones were the weeds which were growing and

glowing away to glory and capture the whole pots!! not tht i really

hate them frm the heart as they are also plants and i can never

ever hate plants but why can’t they just keep to their area is what i

don’t understand.. why do they have to be soooo selfish??

And as if the heat was not enough, the mealy bugs are doing their

share too.. painting my sunflowers zinnias and verbenas in white,

the creepy li’l creatures are not at all affected by heat and just

continue to thrive.. but tomorrow i strike back with revenge(read

neem oil) I did manage to disarm a couple of them today with my

weapon-at-hand(sharp water stream) but tomorrow i must make full

preparations to attack and conquer the enemy.. The war is on!!

I’m thinking of having a low-lying succulent in all the pots to

suppress the weeds as they seem to be getting out of hand lately..

also i need it to retain water in the summers.. plus the one tht i’m

planning to have looks absolutely gorgeous and is a totally

maintainence-free plant.. i have already planted cuttings in a few

pots but tom i’m going to do it in a systematic way and carefully

divide the mother plant to have enough for all pots.. i doubt it

though because i simply have too many pots now but it should be

enough to cover the ones tht need it the most.. the smaller ones

can do without it for now..

I bought this one from Palampur and have no clue to the exact

name.. if someone can ID it for me i shall be truly glad..

The caladiums are happy splashing color despite the heatwave

and here they are.. i’m glad to have more in terms of variety and

color this season.. even more is about to unfurl.. there’s also a lone

zinnia which doesnt seem to be affected by the heat.. the others

are blooming faded and dying faded.. And then there’s a

crossandra which seems to be happy too.. Carnations have never

been affected(touch-wood).. i wonder if they even know the

concept of seasons.. dumb gorgeous flowers.. hehe..

and ofcourse there’s the good old amaryllis..

it is my first reply on this blog and to start with I would like to thank you for the useful information, which I were able to find in this and all previous topics , it really helped me a lot. I will definitely iclude this website on my google reader 🙂 Also, I would like to ask – don’t you mind if I will quate some information from your blog because I am writing articles for the Bukisa, Ezine and other articles directories (this is my part time job)? It would really help me with some of mine articles. Of course, I will mention your blog name or URL (not all articles directories allows URL’s , so I can’t 100% promise that you will get a direct link to your website).
