After a long discussion with myself i came to the conclusion that i
must sow the impatiens seeds i recently regardless of the
weather(read scorching heat).. i know wrong season but then i
have one plant in flower already out on the terrace, one cutting in
the greenhouse that has rooted and two packets of seed lying.. so
wats wrong with experimenting in the greenhouse anyhow??
So while i sowed Impatiens i also pressed down a few seeds of
Alyssum Golden Queen which i’m trying for the first time.. it looks
pretty exciting in a yellow-golden color and i’m looking forward to a
sweep of golden already.. Added to these are 6 papaya seeds that
my Dad gave me.. I’m not really into growing fruits and veggies but
papaya is one fruit i’ve developed a liking for recently.. and this one
is a small medicinal papaya.. though i’m not sure i’m going to plant
all 6 papaya trees in my home.. will probably give out some..
While i was at it, i also took the opportunity to clean-up the
greenhouse.. since i’m awaiting tables i’ve decided to use this pink
rack for the time being..
The collected leaves went into the compost bin.. talking of compost
bin.. this one is half-full already and i’m thinking of buying another
one to start a new pile and leave this one to decompose.. will fill it
upto 3/4 th i guess..
The weeds are giving me a very hard time and i’ve read a few
organic remedies for a permanent solution.. will name them when
i’ve tried and tested them.. i know the desired effect can be
achieved easily with a chemical but somehow i’m anti-chemical and
i havent used any for as long as i rem.. and this has been a very
sub-conscious decision.. not deliberately but somehow i have
always gone in favour of organic..
Tomorrow i will probably give some bonemeal to my roses that are
doing their best to flower despite the heat.. sufficient water is what
they are already getting and it time for some feed too..
I’ve also got two new small neem plant from the local
university(PAU).. I’m always in need of neem leaves to fight the
mealy bugs and numerous other problems in the garden.. so i’m
going to pot one up in a big container and other in the garden so
that they grow nice and bushy soon:)
The price difference between Private Nurseries and PAU Nursery is
amazing.. while private nurseries do sell seedlings at a double rate,
prices of plants vary a lot too.. i’d looked for the same sized neem
plant in a private nursery and found it priced at Rs. 40.. The same
plant i got frm PAU for Rs. 10!!
And here’s what my compost bin looks like now..
Keep working ,great job!
