Rosomania- An obsession with roses..

I’m suffering from a case of serious “Rosomania“.. It occurs during the winter months (Oct-March) where one feels compelled to buy roses of all colors shapes sizes as well as prices.

It is accompanied by frequent trips to the nursery to hunt for new roses that haunt your dreams. During the month of December, severe symptoms are seen as it is the peak of rose selling season. It also causes an irrepressible urge to stock up on multiple plants of same variety fearing loss during summers and then the longing for winters. Frequent money loss in exchange of cuttings, excessive internet search, visions of home plucked rose bouquets, stocking up on rose fertilizers, trying to sniff fragrance of flowers from pictures and a general restlessness on what treasure might be hiding in which nursery; are some common side-effects.

Sometimes the disease takes a serious turn when one if deeply affected by a desire to obtain a particular variety seen at a local garden or friend’s place from which it is not possible to take cuttings. The only solution is to make panic calls to every nursery in town and email all garden buddies for “it”.

An advantage of this severity is that a lot of new nurseries and plant sources are discovered in this process which help to treat its mother disease “floweromania” which can occur anytime of the year.It also increases immunity towards “thorn cuts”.

Rosomania” can affect individuals at any age and in any situation; particularly the nature-inclined types. Sometimes even a gift of roses or an innocent picture is enough to trigger this condition.

No vaccination or cure has been discovered so far. Precautions may be taken by staying away from anything colorful and living in a pot during the said months and visiting friends/relatives only without gardens. The disease is not fatal but might cause a gradual decrease in pocket money as well as sleep.

I’m a victim. Are you?

Very amusing. I’m always amazed by the writing talent of bloggers.

I’m also obsessed with roses but can’t grow them due to the lack of sun in my garden. I envy you your beautiful flowers.

so what about the person who collects roses and waits for them to die then hangs them up in his house and has about 60 on the coffee table (dead) – is that weird or rosemania??
